Direct cardiac investigations or the traditional pathway
General practitioners can refer directly to Zenith Cardiology for an appropriate cardiac investigation rather than routinely referring for a cardiology consultation first. Zenith Cardiology provides bulk-billed specialist cardiology consultations for patients requiring Cardiologist assessment, management or follow-up. A valid referral is generally required for Medicare specialist benefits.

Echocardiogram
Bulk-billed echocardiogram: ultrasound assessment of the structure and function of the heart.
Exercise stress echocardiogram
Bulk-billed exercise stress echocardiogram: assessment of heart function before and immediately after exercise.
24-hour to 14-day Holter monitoring
Holter monitoring, billed privately: portable ECG monitoring used to investigate intermittent heart rhythm abnormalities and symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness or syncope.
24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, billed privately: blood pressure monitoring over approximately 24 hours to assess blood pressure during normal daily activities and sleep.
12-lead ECG
Bulk-billed 12-lead ECG: a recording of the electrical activity of the heart.
Bubble study
Bubble study, billed privately: specialised echocardiographic assessment performed for selected clinical indications.
